The value of a great mascot concept
Using a mascot as a landmark for your organization or business is not a new thing. On the contrary, we find examples of mascots that go years back. When it is still considered relevant using your own mascot, despite a rapid development in media and marketing methods, it is because a mascot concept has a unique ability to communicate with both children and adults.

A mascot creates sympathy with his or her audience - many of them speak right to the heart of us with their fluffy appearance and big innocent eyes. Or we fall for a funny expression or a cheeky or foolish behavior. In many ways, mascots break down barriers, and we become more receptive to the company messages behind the mascot.

A great mascot has personality and charisma and a simple look with a few exaggerated traits that make him appealing to his audience. A great mascot also matches his audience. Are you targeting small children, the mascot should be cute and naive. Are you targeting older children or teenagers, the mascot should certainly be cooler and cheekier.

A great mascot has life and personality
A great costume and a stunning illustration does not do it alone. A mascot must have a strong and clear personality which is reflected through the mascot's appearance. You should tell the mascot's story and be faithful to it through the mascot concept. Then the mascot appears lifelike and credible, and you will succeed with your mascot concept.

We can help you with all this at Bamsefabrikken. To create a universe around a mascot and tell his or her story is called storytelling. We work with an experienced company within the area of developing children concepts and storytelling, and together we build a strong universe surrounding your mascot. Learn much more about storytelling with mascots here.

The actor inside the mascot costume
A costume or a mascot suit comes to life with the right person in the costume. It is important that the person acting in the costume knows the mascot thoroughly and understand the personality and history. We also refer to the actor as a "mascoteer". A great "mascoteer" has humor and is not afraid of exaggerated movements and crazy thoughts. Additionally, a "mascoteer" should be in somewhat physically good shape as it is pretty warm to perform in a mascot costume.
